India: Punjab government tests waters with possible job portal collaboration

By Katherine Fanning 0 Comments NEWS, Industry News

The Punjab government of India has recently announced the possibility of a partnership with job portal Naukri and potentially others in an effort to follow through on a manifesto promise called 'Ghar Ghar Naukri'. The goal is to generate new avenues of employment for the struggling youth, as well as aid any job seekers in finding opportunities.

The official spokesperson that disclosed the statement came forward after a meeting between Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Naukri promoter Hitesh Oberoi during TiECon 2018.

Currently, Naukri is home to a database of 54 million jobs and 70,000 registered companies. It could be just what Punjab needs in terms of a suitable platform, Oberoi informed the chief minister. Furthermore, Singh went on to explain the steps being taken by the government to fulfil the poll promise of jobs for every household, and if the portal plan comes to fruition, will do so alongside government-sanctioned job fairs with prospective employers.
