Professional services automation provider, Kimble Applications, has recently announced an update for its Intelligent PSA service. The upgrade is highly anticipated and views as "setting a new standard in resource management"; entitled Summer 18, it is being hailed as the first PSA with what is called "intelligent resourcing".

Project managers and resourcing managers will now be able to collaborate with more ease due to better central resourcing updates and insights for project managers who need to orient plans as per resource load that come from other plans.

The update also benefits task-led assignment planning that is based around project task management and assignments through making "pinned days" as important, providing over-allocation guides for mapping resource work scenarios, and enhancing visibility. Furthermore, Intelligence will allow resource managers to enact better decision-making, while smart framework assignments can forecast needs and the draw-down can be accessed directly through the Kimble Community portal for management of timelines.

Lastly, there are several onboarding and offboarding features alike - including GDPR tools - that support diverse functionality like subject access requests and consent for contact.

Founder and CEO, Sean Hoban, commented on the upgrade:

"The addition of intelligent resourcing puts our product even further ahead of the competition. Our customers will reap the benefits in the form of higher utilization and profitability."

Randy Mysliviec, MD, of the Resource Management Institute, also spoke on the occasion and the necessity of the upgrade, as well as speaking highly of Kimble's work:

"While many factors affect project performance and profitability, none are more than influential than resource management; RMI research shows that project-based consulting businesses have a big opportunity to improve project outcomes by removing inhibitors to effective resourcing. Better resource management processes and better software automation tools will enable them to adopt Just-in-Time Resourcing®. The RMI applauds Kimble’s continued investment in addressing the mission-critical resource management needs of the industry".
