Rwandan online employment portal aims for top ICT prize at Geneva contest

Local online employment portal, Job in Rwanda has ben nominated to compete at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2018. It's an international contest that recognizes companies whose projects and activities influence information and communication technologies to advance Sustainable Development Goals.

According to organizers, the jobs portal is among 90 projects by individuals, governments, civil society, local, regional and international agencies, research institutions and private-sector companies, which were nominated for “implementing development-oriented strategies that use technologies as an enabler of the development”.

While confirming the nomination, Delphine Uwituze, the head of operations at Job in Rwanda, said the development will benefit the tech start-up, adding that they will be traveling to Geneva, Switzerland to compete at the WSIS 2018 finals. Uwituze added they were informed about the nomination last month.

Over 685 projects were submitted from around the world and 492 nominated as ICT success stories, following a comprehensive review by experts.
